Summer's Fest Partners with Mira Costa End Epilepsy

Raising Money to End Epilepsy while Rocking Out to Local Bands

SUMMERS's FEST - We are putting together a concert/showcase of teen bands from the South Bay at Summers Sports Bar in Manhattan Beach on June 30th, 2018. South Bay Music Connection has partnered with Mira Costa End Epilepsy to raise money for the national branch of End Epilepsy. "We don’t raise funds for EPILEPSY. We raise funds to END EPILEPSY. The more successful we are, together, in this fight the sooner we will End Epilepsy".

South Bay Music Connection - This group was started to help local teen musicians get a chance to be heard. We have so many talented kids here that don't have much opportunity to showcase their hard work. My goal is to start a Community of Music in the South Bay for teen bands and performers to support one another and share their music.
I am the mother of a young musician. Other then trying to book gigs for my son's band I am currently working with the city of Manhattan Beach on the Polliwog Summer Concert Series. Each week during the summer a teen band will open for the headliner. While working on this project I have meet some incredibly talented teen musicians, solo acts and bands. I started a Facebook page: South Bay Music Connection, with this site I am trying to foster a community of teen bands that supports one another. Let people know when you have an upcoming gig; share new music and band updates; collaborate and create great music.
The next step was to create more opportunities for the kids to perform live in front of the community. Our first Summer's Fest will showcase four teen bands. With the success of this event we will be able to open more doors and support many more performers and bands.

Slater Heidrich / Mira Costa End Epilepsy- My name is Slater Heidrich and I have Juvenile Myoclonic Epilepsy. I started this club because our goal is to help find a cure for Epilepsy. We are raising money to help the national branch of End Epilepsy find a cure for seizures.
Slater is a young talented musician and was set to play at the Summer's Fest event, after recently suffering two grand mal seizures he decided that he needed to do something to raise money for the cause. Slater was diagnosed with JME in 2014. He and his family had the idea to use the Summer's Fest event to raise money. With this partnership we hope to that it will be an outstanding community event with people enjoying a day of family entertainment.
