Suspected DUI Driver Rams Manhattan Beach Police Vehicle
Manhattan Beach Police Officers respond to a hit and run & then are rammed by a different car, injuring one MBPD police officer.

MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — The New Year got off to less than a stellar start for a Manhattan Beach Police Officer who sustained injuries when an alleged DUI driver "intentionally rammed the officers unit at approximately 40 mph" at 10:30 p.m. in the 1300 block of Marine Avenue, according to Community Affairs Sergeant Tim Zins.
The officer, who was not transported to a hospital but did sustain injuries, was responding to a hit and run in the area when a different car hit him from behind. The driver of the car was booked for felony assault with a deadly weapon and driving under the influence and was transported to Los Angeles County Men’s Central Jail, said Sgt. Zins. It is not known if the suspect has since bailed out or is still in custody.
Photos of the incident can be seen on the Manhattan Beach Police Department Facebook page.
