Trash collection throughout the city will be delayed by one day this week in Manhattan Beach due to the Memorial Day holiday today. Customers whose trash is normally collected Monday, will have it collected Tuesday and so on, with normal Friday pick-ups moved to Saturday. These collection changes apply to trash, recyclables and green items.
In addition, street sweeping will not take place today, but regular street sweeping schedules will be maintained the rest of the week. Parking tickets will be issued Tuesday through Friday if a vehicle violates posted signs.
Waste Management and Athens Services, which hold the city contracts for waste collection and street sweeping, give their employees Memorial Day off. Memorial Day this year is Monday, May 27th.
If you have waste collection questions, contact Waste Management directly at 310-830-7100. For street sweeping questions, call Public Works [the department is not open Monday in observance of Memorial Day] at 310-802-5300.
