'Unknown Force For Good': Manhattan Beach Heroes
We all know someone who's making a difference. Here's one local group of residents who are having an impact in Manhattan Beach.
MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented and changing times.
Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. We’re working to let all your neighbors know about these outstanding people and their stories.
This submission comes from Kathie Nichols who nominated Neptunian Woman’s Club members of Manhattan Beach. Nichols nominated her fellow club members to recognize the hard work they put into the community and the South Bay.

How do you know the local hero?
My fellow Neptunian friends
What does the local hero do?
Since 1909, our organization has been a vital philanthropic force in our city and the greater South Bay Area. They provide community support both in participation and in-kind donations. Our largest outreach is through scholarships at MCHS, ECC and occupational preparation programs
Why do you believe the local hero should be recognized or honored?
We should be recognized because we are a fairly quiet and amazingly sometimes even unknown force for good. We welcome members to join us and look forward to community participation.
What's one thing you want everyone to know about the local hero?
We work hard to help make the community a happier place and we have fun - so join us please.
Thank you for all you do, Neptunian Woman’s Club members!
