View Manhattan Beach's Highest Paid Workers: CA State Controller's List For 2024

A published list of city, county and state workers is now available. Here is the breakdown of who is paid the most in your area.

MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — Who gets paid the most to work in Manhattan Beach? According to a report released Wednesday by the California Controller's Office, the 10 highest-paid officials work in public safety.

The agency recently published its 2024 "Government Compensation in California" analysis, which shows how taxpayer funds were spent in the previous year and who received what for being on the public payroll.

"This report is a vital tool in promoting fiscal transparency and accountability in local government," Controller Malia Cohen said. "Californians deserve to know how public funds are being spent and who is being paid with their tax dollars."

The individual who received the most significant income in Manhattan Beach was an unnamed police lieutenant. The individual received a total of $393,569 in wages in 2024.

The other highest-paid employees were in the Police and Fire departments, followed by the city manager.

In 2023, the City Manager was the 13th highest paid government employee, making just over $305,000. They remain the 13th highest paid government employee despite their wages increasing to $335,643 in 2024

As for elected officials, including the Mayor, nobody made more than $12,305 in wages.

Manhattan Beach maintained 576 government positions in 2024, paying out $49,542,651 in wages, according to the California Controller's Office.
