Arrest Made In Shooting Death Of Man In Marina Del Rey

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department identified and arrested a man in relation to an August murder.

MARINA DEL REY, CA — The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department arrested a man in relation to a shooting death outside of a marijuana dispensary in Windsor Hills on Aug. 12.

Homicide investigators identified Gabriel Alvarado, 24 from the Los Angeles area, as the killer of Azuma Bennett. Alvarado was arrested on Sept. 22 and booked in the North County Correctional Facility with his bail set at more than $3 million.

The Marina Del Rey Sheriff's deputies got a report of a shooting at 9:45 a.m. on Aug. 12 and reported to the scene, finding Bennet in the doorway of the dispensary suffering from gunshot wounds.

Bennet was later pronounced dead at the scene by the LA County Fire Department.

Alvarado pleaded not guilty no a murder charge on Tuesday, and his court date is set for Nov. 12 at the Airport Courthouse.
