The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday approved funding an estimated $12.25 million project that will replace docks near Burton Chace Park.
The project for the area known as Anchorage 47, located on the north side of Mindanao Way, will result in a reduction of 77 boat slips, from 330 to 253, to comply with handicap accessibility standards. And, the plan calls for repairing and upgrading water, power and sewage utilities to accommodate the reconfigured docks.
Once the Beaches and Harbors Department determines the final project budget, it will return to the Board of Supervisors with any recommendations.

Work will be implement in three phases, with no more than one-third of the docks under construction at a time, in an effort to minimize adverse impact on boaters.
Construction is expected to begin in March 2013 and should be completed by September 2014.
