Partly Sunny, Beach Permits Workshop and Follow Us
The county's Department of Beaches and Harbors is holding a workshop today to discuss changes in the way it provides permits for beach camps and physical fitness training camps on county beaches.

Today is April 7. It is the 97th day of the year. We are under a waxing crescent moon. Sunset will occur about 7:20 p.m. Here are five things to know:
1. The National Weather Service forecast for this afternoon calls for partly sunny skies with a high near 60 degrees. A wind advisory has been issued until 10 p.m. with gusts potentially reaching 40 mph in the area. There's a chance of showers tonight as a cold, low-pressure system moves into the region and the overnight low should be around 46 degrees. Forecasters said there's a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms Friday with an expected high near 55 degrees.
2. Playa del Rey resident Phil Jackson and the two-time defending champion Los Angeles Lakers lost their third game in a row last night, this time to the Golden State Warriors, who won 95-87 at Oracle Arena. The Lakers have four games left in the regular season.
