Flaring Possible During Planned Maintenance At Martinez Refinery
The flaring may be visible from Interstate 680 and Marina Vista Avenue.
MARTINEZ, CA — Planned maintenance work at Martinez Refining Company will result in flaring through Wednesday, authorities said.
Contra Costa Health Services said it was notified by the refinery ahead of time about the flaring March 6-8 which will be visible from Interstate 680 and Marina Vista Avenue.
According to the Martinez Refining Company, information about this week's planned maintenance that could cause flaring was previously posted on its Facebook page and was mailed to refinery neighbors in December.

"Although we always strive to minimize flaring, it is typically associated with equipment and process unit startup, shutdown, maintenance, and essential operational needs," the refinery said on Facebook.
