Here Is The Evacuation Map For Mill Valley

The City of Mill Valley has an evacuation drill planned for Saturday.

MILL VALLEY, CA — The City of Mill Valley shared the evacuation map several days ahead of the planned evacuation drill and public safety fair on Saturday.

“As wildfire risks continue to grow, we have a responsibility to prepare, not
just as individuals, but as neighbors, and as an entire community,” said Stephen Burke, Mill Valley mayor. “This drill helps ensure City and County residents are ready to respond together, with the knowledge and coordination that could save lives.”

The Mill Valley evacuation drill will start at 8:45 a.m. on Saturday with cars lining up on Miller Avenue at the Camino Alto intersection. At 9 a.m., law enforcement and fire personnel will guide participants as they drive their cars on the designated route and exit Mill Valley via Hamilton Drive to the U.S. Highway 101 to simulate a real emergency.

The drill is open to all Mill Valley residents, but it will focus on neighborhoods near Miller Avenue and the Thockmorton Ridge area, where access routes are particularly challenging.

“In a real emergency, you might not be at home. You could be downtown, running errands,
dining out or picking up your children from school,” said Rick Navarro, Mill Valley police chief. “This drill gives our entire Mill Valley community the chance to plan ahead, practice and build the muscle memory that can make all the difference in a crisis.”

Traffic will be impacted in these locations:

  • 400 Block of Sycamore Avenue and Mill Valley Middle School – Will be CLOSED to all traffic between Camino Alto and Bay Front Park from 6:00am – 9:30am.
  • Miller Avenue – Will be CLOSED to outbound traffic between Millwood and Camino Alto from 8:30am – 9:30am.
  • Camino Alto – Will be CLOSED to all lanes of traffic between E. Blithedale Ave and Miller Ave from 8:30am – 9:30am
  • E. Blithedale – Will be OPEN, with lane reduction, heading out of town from 8:30am – 10:00am.

The city advised residents to prepare ahead by signing up for Alert Marin and updating your households go bags and emergency plans.

After the event their will be a public safety fair from 9:30 a.m. to noon in the Mill Valley Middle School parking lot where participants can meet first responders and emergency experts, explore preparedness resources and participate in family-friendly activities and educational exhibits.
