Fire Crews To Remove Flammable Foliage Around Mill Valley, Sausalito

Work was scheduled to get underway Monday to prune trees and remove encroaching vegetation along several roads.

MILL VALLEY, CA — Fire crews were scheduled to begin vegetation management work Monday to reduce potential hazards along several roads in Mill Valley and Sausalito.

"The Southern Marin Fire Protection District has made the reduction of flammable vegetation that surrounds our residents one of its biggest priorities," the agency said in a news release. "To that end, the Fire District's multi-faceted Vegetation Management Program is coming to your neighborhood with two primary goals in mind: reduce flammable vegetation and improve access for emergency vehicles, particularly on narrow, winding streets."

According to district officials, crews previously removed more than 7,100 tons of flammable vegetation across the jurisdiction, successfully improving emergency response times and reducing the number of power outages caused by winter storms.
