Loud Music Makes the Children Cry

This week's roundup of police activity includes yet another series of barking dog complaints, bike thefts and burglaries of unlocked cars, as well as a report of a driver playing music at a tear-inducing volume.

March 6

8:11 a.m. – A resident of Walnut Ave. complained about barking dogs, which the resident said was a regular problem in the neighborhood. Police responded but were unable to hear a barking dog.

11:21 a.m. – In what has become an , a resident of Vista Linda Drive had the tires of his green Saab deflated by someone. The valve stem on both left side tires was damaged, police said.

2:56 p.m. – The resident of Walnut Ave. who called about the barking dogs complained again to police, saying the dogs have been barking off and on all day. The resident told police to just wait five minutes after they arrived in the area and they would eventually hear a dog bark.

9:30 p.m. – A dark silver Cannondale road bike was reported stolen from . The bike was valued at $1,200.

March 7

7:43 a.m. – A resident of Park Ave. reported that someone stole his tax preparation paperwork from his unlocked car.

8:24 a.m. – A resident of Roque Moraes Court reported that his red Rockhopper mountain bike was stolen from his car port. The bike had been locked to a cement block outside the home. Both the bike and the cement block were taken, the resident said. The bike was valued at $100.

8:57 a.m. – Someone broke into the unlocked Audi station wagon of a Walnut Avenue resident and stole a wallet and briefcase. The briefcase was later found down the street but the wallet, along with a checkbook and some cash, was not recovered.

10:19 p.m. – An employee of reported that a number of the store’s signs had been stolen.

March 9

8:36 a.m. – A resident reported that his car was burglarized on Miller Avenue near Tam Bikes, with someone smashing the windows and stealing an undetermined amount of items from inside. Police are investigating.

9:50 a.m. – A woman called police to report that her son’s name had been scrawled in a derogatory manner at the Skate Park near . An official from the city’s Public Works Department removed the graffiti.

5:29 p.m. – A resident of Bernard Street reported that a neighbor’s dog had been howling all day, an ongoing problem for the past two weeks. Police advised the woman dog-sitting at the home of the complaint.

6:36 p.m. – A resident called police after seeing a young male who seemed intoxicated and was throwing up. Police responded and cited three male juveniles for public intoxication. They were released to the custody of their parents.

March 10

10:26 p.m. – A resident of Willow Street reported that his 2002 gold Nissan Pathfinder was vandalized, with someone scratching the hood, throwing around the water jugs that were in the back. The resident told police that it was likely that a neighbor was responsible for the vandalism as they have had an ongoing dispute. 

March 11

12:55 p.m. – A shopper at on East Blithedale Avenue reported that her purse was stolen from her shopping cart, an incident that was in line with a . The woman told police that she did not see a suspect. She later determined that she had left her purse in the back seat of her car. No crime.

3:31 p.m. – A resident called police to report that a man was driving around the area of East Blithedale and Throckmorton avenues playing very loud music. The resident told police that the music "was making the children cry."
