Plate-Reading Cameras Help Sausalito Police Find Stolen Pickup
A transient was arrested and booked into Marin County Jail for possession of a stolen vehicle and possession of burglary tools, police said.
SAUSALITO, CA — Sausalito police arrested a 33-year-old transient Sunday afternoon on suspicion of a stolen pickup after a city license plate recognition camera told police a pickup reported as stolen had entered the city, a police captain said.
Diego Nativid Hernandez was detained about 3:10 p.m. Sunday near the intersection of Curry Avenue and Glenn Drive, about six minutes after police were notified the 1982 Toyota pickup reported stolen earlier in the day in San Rafael had passed a camera alongside Monte Mar Avenue, said police Capt. Bill Fraass.
Further investigation revealed that Hernandez was in possession of burglary tools.
