MILPITAS, CA — Jim Erickson snapped this photo of a Black Crowned Night Heron on the lake edge at Spring Valley Golf Course in Milpitas on Monday. Jim checked his “Field Guide To Birds” and found that this 26 inch bird ranges throughout the Western States, but is considered to be “uncommon.” Thank you for sharing your photo and research, Jim!
