Newspaper Endorses Spicer, Blackburn for City Council
The Pasadena Star-News endorsed Alexander Blackburn and Larry Spicer for City Council in an editorial Thursday.

The two candidates on the ballot received the support of the local newspaper Thursday when the Pasadena Star-News endorsed Larry Spicer and Alexander Blackburn.
The paper picked the two candidates over Robert Parry, who is running a write-in campaign.
The editorial describes Spicer as a "classic community volunteer" and Blackburn as a "young, entrepreneurial force" in explaining their support for the candidates while praising Parry's involvement in the community.

"Parry has made himself well known in the city with protests about speeding on his street and concerns over cuts to the Police Department budget," the paper states. "But what Monrovia voters need to ask themselves at this point is simple: Are there such deficiencies in the two candidates who did in fact file to run that Parry's late appearance trumps their timely paperwork?"
