The Monrovia City Council awarded a contract to a construction company Tuesday to resurface Olive Avenue.

The Monrovia City Council awarded a $723,237 contract Tuesday to E.C. Construction to resurface Olive Avenue.

The street rehabilitation project will include removal and replacement of asphalt on the street and new street striping, pavement markers, cross walks, and other work, according to a council agenda report.

The city received seven bids on the project and chose E.C. Construction, a South El Monte firm, as the lowest bidder. The company has done previous resurfacing work for the city in 2010-11 and did "an excellent job," the report states.
