• Medi-Cal benefits paperwork deadline quickly approaching (montereyherald.com) — If you rely on Medi-Cal in Monterey County, officials are urging you to apply or complete your renewal by December 31 to avoid losing coverage. Applications are up 16%, helped by outreach through partners and the county’s MC Choice van in Soledad, Salinas, and Watsonville. Residents can also renew by phone through the county call center. 
• Cal State Monterey Bay enrollment surge raises concerns over housing and class availability (ksbw.com) — Cal State Monterey Bay’s 7.5% enrollment jump is pumping millions into the local economy but also tightening housing options and class availability for students in the Monterey area. CSUMB is refurbishing Gavilan Hall into housing for about 200 students, yet many worry that future automatic admissions could strain the already limited on-campus resources even more.
• Pro Soccer: Monterey Bay FC resigns defender Gordon (montereyherald.com) — Monterey Bay FC is keeping a key defensive leader, re-signing captain Nico Gordon to a multi-year deal after his standout first season anchoring the back line. The 23-year-old led the Union in several defensive categories and says he’s committed to delivering a season the local community can be proud of.
