Crescenta Valley Town Council: Rainstorm System Is Expected

A rainstorm system is expected to bring rain showers on Monday (12/13/2021) afternoon with moderate to heavy rainfall into late Tuesday (12/14/2021) evening.

Forecast for Monday through Tuesday

  • Rainfall of 1 to 3 inches along coast and valleys and 3 to 5 inches in the mountains.
  • Snow of 1 to 3 inches above 4,500 feet and 12 to 24 inches above 7000 feet.
  • High wind watch will be in effect for the Antelope Valley, which may drive wind chill temperatures into the sub-freezing range.
  • Phase 2 forecast – Moderate to heavy potential for debris or mudflow is possible for the recent Ranch2, Lake, Bobcat, Tujunga, Soledad and Equestrian Fire burn areas.

  • Bouquet Canyon Rd will have a managed closure throughout the rainstorm event starting Monday morning. Drivers of this road may be escorted, and the road will be closed during heavy rain. Commuters and residents are recommended to use alternate routes during the referenced hours.
  • Maintained roads are being monitored for debris and black ice conditions.

As a reminder, following a wildfire, the watershed takes approximately five years to recover. Mud/Debris flow Phase Forecasts are issued for significant National Weather Services rain forecast.
