As part of the I-5 North County Enhancements Project, Metro’s contractor OHLA-USA, will be establishing construction work zones and restriping along I-5 between Rye Canyon Rd and Parker Rd.

Activities will include lane reductions for restriping of all lanes, and placement of K-rail (temporary barriers) in both directions. This phase of construction will also require intermittent northbound and southbound ramp closures. The work zones will facilitate upcoming construction of a new center median, drainage work, retaining walls, and sound walls. Work is scheduled from Tuesday, January 18, 2022, through Saturday, March 5, 2022.

What to Expect/Traffic Control

Intermittent weeknight lane reductions between 8 pm and 6 am, in both directions, and intermittent on- and off-ramp closures from Rye Canyon Rd to Parker Rd starting Tuesday, January 18, through Saturday, March 5, 2022. Vehicles will be detoured to the next available ramp.

  • Rye Canyon Rd on- and off-ramps: Use Magic Mountain Pkwy on-ramp or Hasley Canyon Rd on-ramp
    • On- and off-ramp closures: 7pm-6am
  • SR-126/Newhall Ranch Rd on- and off-ramps: Use Magic Mountain Pkwy on-ramp or Hasley Canyon Rd on-ramp
    • On- and off-ramp closures: 9pm-6am
  • Hasley Canyon Rd on- and off-ramps: Use Rye Canyon Rd on-ramp or Lake Hughes Rd on-ramp
    • On-ramp closure: 7pm-6am
    • Off-ramp closure: 10pm-6am

Essential Details

Northbound and southbound lane and ramp closures from Rye Canyon Rd to Parker Rd

  • Lane reductions between 8 pm and 6 am.
  • Ramp closures between 7 pm and 6 am.
  • Consecutive ramps in the same direction will not be closed at the same time. Detours to the next on-ramp will be posted for each closure
  • All lanes will reopen by 6 am each morning.
  • Traffic will be maintained in each direction.
  • No lane closures will be implemented during morning or evening peak traffic hours.
  • Speed limit within construction zone will change to 55-miles per hour
