Question: Why is there often a uniformed officer stationed in the lobby of the Mountain View Public Library?
Answer: The Police Department has three police assistants working throughout the week that are solely dedicated to serving the public at our library. About 3,000 people per day enjoy our wonderful library (which makes it a very busy place!). The police assistants ensure that all patrons can enjoy the library by enforcing the library’s behavior policies, reporting any graffiti inside or outside, writing parking tickets to those who violate the parking laws, and preventing skateboarders from damaging the facility or causing a safety hazard on the sidewalks. Library Police Assistants also provide crime prevention brochures to parents, hand out police stickers to kids and read books to children of all ages.
