The residents of Bentley Square, near Grant Road and El Camino Real, decided to make this July 4, 2012 one to remember.
The celebrations were kicked off at 10:30 in the morning by Steve Keller who led the neighbors in a recital of the Pledge of Allegiance and hosted a fun quiz about the Stars and Stripes flag.

Richard Blake turned up the volume on the festivities by spearheading a sing-along that included "Yankee Doodle Dandy" and "My Country Tis of Thee."
The kids in the neighborhood then took part in several games and participated in a decorated bike/scooter competition before leading the parents on a colorful parade around the block to the sound of lively marching music. The day continued with a pot luck and BBQ by the pool in the afternoon.

Commenting on the events of he day, Steve Keller, the chief organizer, said "It was a great way to celebrate the true meaning of Independence day, the kids and adults had a blast.
"I think we will make it even bigger and better next year," said Keller.
Another organizer Kathy Fisher added, "events like this are great for building a real sense of spirit in our little Mountain View community."
The idea of having a patriotic July 4th celebration was suggested at the last neighborhood gathering in April.
"This event was relatively easy to organize since over 60 percent of the households in Bentley Square are members of nextdoor.com a website that helps us stay in touch," said Paul Lynch.
