Proposed Single-Use Carry-Out Bag Ordinance in Mountain View

This ordinance bans plastic single-use carry-out bags and charges for paper bags at all retail stores in Mountain View, excluding restaurants, charitable nonprofit thrift organizations, and protective bags for produce/meat/prescriptions.  The project involves two steps - environmental impact report and then adoption of a local ordinance.

Businesses may provide comments about the environmental impacts of the ordinance directly to the host agency preparing it on behalf of participating cities.  Comments must be received by San Mateo County by 5 p.m. August 6, 2012.
