Fire Near San Jose Airport, Hwy 87 Quickly Extinguished

Officials said airport operations were not affected.

SAN JOSE, CA — San Jose firefighters extinguished a fire near state Highway 87 this morning, a fire department spokesman said. The fire was reported at 8:20 a.m. at Charcot Avenue and O'Nel Drive, prompting a response from five engines and one battalion chief, Fire Capt. Mitch Matlow said.

The area is located about one block east of Highway 87, according to Matlow, and is about a mile away from Mineta San Jose International Airport.

Airport officials said on Twitter that the ramp to Airport Boulevard on Highway 87 was briefly closed but airport operations were not affected.
