Men Robbed at Gun Point, $200 Stolen

Police believe crime may have been intentional.

An armed robber entered an apartment in the middle of the night last Thursday, demanded money from two roommates and walked off with a cell phone and nearly $200 in cash, the police department reported.

"We are not sure of the motive of this case and it is actively being investigated," said Liz Wylie, spokeswoman for the Mountain View Police Department. "But this does not appear to be a random attack at all."

According to Wylie, on Thursday, April 26 at 3:30 a.m. a man described as Hispanic and in his 20s entered an apartment on the 200 block of Rock Street, stood inside a bedroom and pointed a black revolver at the two sleeping roommates, whom the suspect awoke when he demanded their money.

The suspect allegedly entered through the unlocked front door. Five out of the six roommates were home and asleep at the time.

Both victims, a 26-year-old and a 24-year-old, gave the suspect under $200—the cash they had in their wallets. The suspect then left with the money and a $70 T-Mobile Phone.

Wylie explained that the neither victim recognized the suspect who was only seen illuminated in the dark room by the glow of a TV. The suspect wore a short, medium build, black jacket and dark blue jeans. The other roommates didn't awake or hear anything.

The victims then woke up the other roommates and discussed the incident. The called the police at 4:35 a.m.

"These two victims appear to have been chosen or targeted for some reason," Wylie said.
