MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA — Mountain View police arrested two men on suspicion of being under the influence of methamphetamine and for possessing guns, ammunition, drugs and drug paraphernalia last Friday. At around 3:30 p.m. Friday, an officer noticed a barbecue and trash strewn across the ground near a recreational vehicle in the area of Gemini Avenue and Jackson Street.

When he knocked on the door and requested 46-year-old transient Neil Young and 42-year-old San Jose resident David Dubois to come outside to let them know about removing the debris, he studied their behavior and believed them to be under the influence of drugs, according to police.

When the officer inquired further, Young allegedly admitted to having several guns inside the RV. The men consented to the officer retrieving the weapons. One was an AR-15 with two loaded magazine rounds next to it and the other was a .22-caliber rifle with several rounds of ammunition nearby.

When the officer talked more with Young, he admitted he had two other guns — a 20-gauge shotgun and another .22-caliber rifle — at his friend's home in Campbell. Those guns were retrieved by police and placed into evidence.

Young was arrested on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance, illegal possession of firearms, possession of an assault rifle, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Dubois was arrested for allegedly being under the influence of a controlled substance, being a felon with ammunition, being a felon with firearms, possession of an assault rifle, illegal possession of firearms, and for two warrants he had out for his arrest.

"This was great police work by our officers," Mountain View police Lt. Saul Jaeger said. "They work every day to keep our community safe, and this is a prime example of the results of their efforts."
