Microsoft Opens New Offices in Silicon Valley

The new 237,121 sq. ft. office space in Sunnyvale expands the software and hardware company's presence beyond is Mountain View campus.

Sunnyvale Mayor Tony Spitaleri joined . officials Monday to inaugurate the company's new Sunnyvale offices in Moffett Towers.

"It's a great privilege to have them come. Our city's been a magnet for big companies," Spitaleri said about Apple, , Nokia, Hewlett Packard and others who already have offices in Sunnyvale. "Companies want to go where they see a stable community, and we represent that."

Also present at the unveiling and tour of the new 237,121-square-foot office space at 1020 Enterprise Way were Microsoft's Qi Lu, president of the Online Services Division; Lisa Brummel, chief people officer; and Jake Hoelter, product unit manager, Microsoft, spoke at the opening ceremony. The building stands at eight stories and has a total capacity of 317,166 of leasable space.

Outside of Redmond, WA, Microsoft's biggest campus is it's Silicon Valley campus in Mountain View. In total, Microsoft employs more than 2,500 people between its three Bay Area offices, including San Francisco and Sacramento. Microsoft’s business groups will work in the Moffett Towers, including employees in the Online Services Division.

Microsoft has had a presence in Silicon Valley since 1981. .

"The opening of the Moffett Towers office represents our commitment to Microsoft Silicon Valley as a strategic location for the company in the heart of a rich technology ecosystem and talent pool," said Qi Lu, in a statement.
