Mountain View Commission to Host a Community Values Meeting

The free event is open to the public and will include refreshments and language translation services.

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA -- The City of Mountain's View Human Relations Commission is hosting a Community Building Forum from 10 am to noon Saturday, Feb. 11 at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts, 500 Castro St.

The event, titled “Affirming Mountain View’s Values and Building Community in Times of Uncertainty,” is focused, according to the Commission, on providing information on community services and "reaffirm a citywide commitment to diversity, inclusivity, engagement and civility."

The forum is a free event, and light refreshments and language translation services will be available, according to city officials.

"This Community Building Forum will acknowledge all of the different backgrounds and points of view in our community, and provide a starting point for people to come together in support of safe, civil and respectful conversation," Mayor Ken Rosenberg said in a statement.

The forum will be facilitated by Human Relations Commission Chair Aila Malik; Vice Chair, Evan Ortiz; and Maria Marroquin, Executive Director of the Mountain View Day Workers Center.

It's also slated to include a discussion panel of area leaders, as well as, provide an opportunity for audience members to ask questions.

The leaders panel includes: Mountain View Vice Mayor Lenny Siegel; Santa Clara County Supervisor Joe Simitian; Mountain View Police Chief Max Bosel; Mountain View Whisman School District Superintendent Dr. Ayinde Rudolph; Los Altos School District Superintendent Jeff Baier; Mountain View Los Altos Union High School District Associate Superintendent Mike Mathiesen; County of Santa Clara Deputy Public Defender Carlie Ware; and a representative from the County of Santa Clara Office of the District Attorney.

Information on immigration, legal aid and social services agencies will also be available for community members seeking additional resources.
