MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA -- Google has given a grant of $98,000 to the City of Mountain View to fund mobile library services to the local community. The City Council approved the grant during its Jan. 31 meeting.
Google has been a long-time partner in delivering bookmobile services to preschools, senior facilities, and corporate campuses. In 2006, Google provided funding to purchase a new vehicle, and later provided funding for a stop to Castro School and the expansion of services to other local schools.
Last year there were 20,054 visits to the vehicle, 71,527 items checked out, 7,267 questions answered, and 5,231 children participated in story times.
