Mountain View Teen Shoots At Couple With Baby In Car: Police

BREAKING: Police say the shooting happened outside 7-Eleven on Latham Street.

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA — Police arrested a teen who allegedly fired a gun at victims outside of a 7-Eleven store Sunday night in Mountain View. At 10:50 p.m., officers responded to the 7-Eleven store in the 1900 block of Latham Street on a report of a shooting that had just occurred. According to police, a 17-year-old male from Mountain View got into an argument with a man inside the store. The two exited the store and continued to argue outside where the teen allegedly pulled out a gun.

The man, accompanied by a woman and an infant, got into their car and drove away from the scene. That's when the teen allegedly opened fire on their vehicle, police said.

The victims inside the car were not struck by gunfire and were not injured, police said.

According to police, the suspect and the man knew each other.

Officers arrived and temporarily shut down the area around the store while they searched and investigated the scene.

Officers then went to the suspect's home nearby to detain and arrest him. At his home officers found the gun used in the shooting, police said.

The suspect was booked into the Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall on suspicion of attempted homicide. His name is not being released because of his age, police said.
