Police Blotter: Crossing Guard Struck by Vehicle, Arrest in Google Bike Theft
The Mountain View Police Department received and responded to various reports of crime on March 25. Here's a sampling.

Running a Red Light
- A vehicle that ran a red light at the intersection of Phyllis Avenue and Grant Road accidentally hit a school crossing guard around 3:13 p.m. Monday, March 25, a police official told Patch. The accident occurred when the vehicle ran the light on southbound Grant Road and was struck by another vehicle travelling westbound on Phyllis Avenue. The collision caused the first vehicle to spin into the southwest corner of the intersection. The vehicle came to a stop when it hit a light-pole. It also struck the crossing guard who stood on the island. According to police, the driver of the second vehicle suffered no injuries. The driver of the first vehicle complained of pain to their hip and the crossing guard complained of pain to the side of head and ankle. Vehicle one received a citation for running a red light during the accident, a police spokesman said, adding that this would now be handled privately through insurance. There were witnesses.
Possession of stolen property
- The Mountain View Police Department arrested a man that Google security said had stolen a bicycle from an employee. According to a police spokesman, on March 25 Google security tried to pursue the suspect through the campus, but the suspect rode off. Security contacted the MVPD who detained the suspect on the 1400 block of Shoreline Boulevard with the bike, which had previously been reported stolen. The owner of the bike identified the bike. The suspect was arrested.
