Thursday's Bay Area Forecast: Moderate-to-Heavy Rains

Moderate-to-heavy rain and high winds could cause flooding, downed trees and isolated power outages in the Bay Area on Thursday.

BAY AREA, CA -- Moderate-to-heavy rain and high winds are forecast for Thursday, Feb. 9 in the San Francisco Bay area, National Weather Service officials say.

Light to moderately heavy rain is expected to fall tonight throughout the region, while winds are expected to strengthen. Flooding, downed trees and isolated power outages are possible with the storm system.

In the the North Bay, Santa Cruz Mountains and East Bay hills, gusts of up to 60 mph are possible starting late Wednesday through Thursday, according to weather service officials.

Lighter rain and cooler temperatures are forecast for Friday and the sun should be out this weekend, weather service officials said. Monday and Tuesday are also forecast to be dry.

The storm is expected to bring slightly cooler temperatures on Friday, with high temperatures ranging from the mid-50s to low 60s, meteorologist Will Pi said.
