2 Ejected In Murrieta-Area Crash

The wreck happened early Monday, with serious injuries reported.

MURRIETA, CA — Two people were hospitalized early Monday morning after crashing in an unincorporated area of Riverside County near Murrieta, the fire department reports.

The crash happened around 1:20 a.m. at Avocado Mesa Road and Via Volcano, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

The two people, whose ages and genders were not released, were thrown from the vehicle in the collision, according to the fire department. They were rushed to the hospital with serious injuries.

Initial reports indicated that a third person may have been in the wreck, but fire officials later said there were only two. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

"After a complete grid search of the area there were no additional patients found," the agency said.

The sheriff's department is investigating the incident.
