RivCo Man Suspected Of String Of Residential Burglaries Arrested: Cops

The man, arrested for stealing electronics from a home, is suspected of committing similar thefts in the area, deputies said.

MURRIETA, CA — A 35-year-old man suspected of perpetrating a residential burglary in Wildomar during which electronics devices were stolen may be responsible for similar thefts throughout the area, authorities said Friday.

Tony Anh Van Duong of Murrieta was arrested and booked into the Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta Thursday on suspicion of felony burglary, auto theft, possession of controlled substances and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Duong is being held in lieu of $500,000 bail.

According to Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. Jarrod Meissen, on Wednesday morning, deputies were alerted to a theft in the 36000 block of Mustang Spirit Lane, near Clinton Keith Road, where "electronics were stolen from the residence."

Meissen said Duong was quickly identified as the alleged thief, culminating in an arrest warrant being served on him in the area of Via Princesa and Calle de Lago in Murrieta, where he was taken into custody without incident shortly after 6 p.m. Thursday.

Meissen said that deputies "located the stolen items, which were returned to the victim."

"It was discovered that Duong may be responsible for additional thefts in the Wildomar area," the sergeant said.

Anyone with information was asked to contact sheriff's dispatch at 951- 776-1099.

Background details on the suspect were not available, including the alleged vehicle theft for which he was also arrested.
