Waste Management Sponsors 4 Active-Duty Military Banners
The four banners will be installed Friday along California Oaks Road, toward Clinton Keith Road, as part of the City of Murrieta's Active-Duty Military Banner Program.

Waste Management of Southern California has donated funds to install four additional active-duty military banners in Murrieta, just in time for Veterans Day.
Banners honoring Marine Cpl. Joseph A. Riano, Marine Gunnery Sgt. Michael Gonzales, Navy Lt. Daniel Larsen and Army Pvt. Tiffany Kohlschmidt will be installed Friday, Nov. 8 along California Oaks Road north toward Clinton Keith Road, according to a joint news release issued by the City and Waste Management.
The four banners are in addition to 11 existing ones that have been installed along California Oaks Road since the City of Murrieta's Active-Duty Military Banner Program launched one year ago.

The program allows the community to honor and pay tribute to the courage, commitment, and heroism of the men and women who are currently serving in the United States Armed Forces.
To be eligible for the banner program, an honoree must be a current resident of the City of Murrieta, and an active-duty member of the United States Armed Forces.

The front and back of each banner, which measures approximately 2 feet by 5 feet, lists the honoree’s name and branch of service and includes a photo or the branch logo as well as the sponsor logo, in this case Waste Management.
There is no cost for the banner or its installation; however, the program is operated through tax-deductible donations. The City of Murrieta will accept donations in any amount to help fund the costs associated with this program.
Eloisa Orozco, a spokesperson for Waste Management of Southern California, said the company was "honored to be a part of it."
Kolek thanked Waste Management for sponsoring the four new banners.
"They give a lot of community support in and around Murrieta," Kolek said, of the company.
She noted that in addition to those paid for by Waste Management, another three banners have been ordered. Those will also be placed along California Oaks, near Clinton Keith, bringing the total number of banners to 18.
