2 Hospitalized In Head-On Collision On Hwy 29 In Napa County

A 53-year-old St. Helena man suffered moderate injuries and a 75-year-old Calistoga man suffered major injuries, the CHP said.

NAPA COUNTY, CA — Two people were hospitalized Tuesday morning from injuries suffered in a two-vehicle head-on collision on state Highway 29, the California Highway Patrol said.

At 6:10 a.m. Tuesday, CHP officers responded to the crash north of Ehlers Lane.

CHP officers determined a 53-year-old St. Helena man was driving his 2020 Toyota CHR northbound, approaching a southbound 2006 Hyundai Sonata driven by a 75-year-old Calistoga man, CHP Officer Jaret Paulson said.

The crash occurred as the Toyota driver drifted onto the east shoulder and hit a barrier, then crossed the double-yellow lines and proceeded directly into the path of the Hyundai driver, Paulson said.

The Toyota and the Hyundai collided head-on in the southbound lane.

The Toyota driver suffered moderate injuries and the Hyundai driver suffered major injuries. Both were taken by AMR ambulance to Queen of the Valley Hospital in Napa.

The roadway was closed for approximately one hour as a result of the crash.
