Napa Force Takes Aim At Girls’ Sports Equity (patch.com) — Napa families now have access to a new countywide girls’ lacrosse initiative, She Plays With Force/Ella Juega con Fuerza, designed to remove cost and language barriers from Calistoga to American Canyon. Napa Force is offering first-year scholarships, discounted or loaner gear, and bilingual support so more local girls can build confidence, health, and leadership through sports.

Napa Japanese Eatery Shuts Down 1st Street Location: Report (patch.com) — Napa diners will soon see changes at Oxbow Public Market as Eiko’s closes its longtime First Street stall while keeping its downtown restaurant open. The owners say shifting foot traffic and market focus drove the move, and they plan to expand offerings downtown with a fresh seafood market and menu items from their former Napa Noodles venture.

Highway 29 drivers face delays as Caltrans installs new culvert, repairs sinkhole (pressdemocrat.com) — Drivers on Highway 29 between Oakville and Rutherford should prepare for nighttime lane closures and later full closures starting Jan. 15 as Caltrans repairs a sinkhole and replaces a culvert in Napa County. One-way traffic control, detours to Silverado Trail, and several weeks of construction are expected to slow trips through this key north–south route.

Tommy Lee Jones' daughter faced Napa domestic battery case involving Ceja Vineyards, court records show (sfchronicle.com) — Law enforcement and court records show Victoria Jones, daughter of actor Tommy Lee Jones, faced multiple misdemeanor cases handled by Napa County authorities, including an alleged domestic battery incident at a Napa resort. Deputies also responded several times to a Los Amigas Road address linked to Ceja Vineyards, documenting concerns about drug use and welfare checks before her recent death in San Francisco.
   

5. A new California law aims to help the struggling wine industry. Will it work? (sfchronicle.com) — Napa growers are getting new ways to host vineyard tastings under California’s AB 720, but strict local rules mean not every estate can benefit. Small producers like Elkhorn Peak Cellars and Prime Solum see the law as a lifeline, while Napa County’s interpretation limits on-site estate tastings and leaves some wineries frustrated in an already challenging wine market.
