Amid Rainy Forecast, Caltrans Pushes Back Highway 37 Weekend Closures
Paving work over four consecutive weekends was scheduled to start Friday but has been postponed. Here's what to know.
NORTH BAY, CA βCiting the weather forecast for this weekend, Caltrans has rescheduled the start date for repaving a stretch of state Highway 37 between Solano and Sonoma counties.
The work requires four consecutive weekend closures and was to start Friday, April 12 but will now begin Friday, April 19.
Rain is expected to start Friday night after 11 p.m. and continue through much of Saturday, diminishing in the evening hours, the National Weather Service for the San Francisco Bay Area said. There is also a chance of thunderstorms. Sunday is expected to be partly sunny with highs in the mid-50s.

During the 55-hour weekend full highway closures, Caltrans will perform major pavement repair work on eastbound and westbound SR-37 on alternating weekends. One traffic direction on SR-37 will be worked on at a time. Detours will be in effect.
Caltrans will close the westbound side of the highway for the first two weekends and the eastbound side for the last two weekends. Closures start at 9 p.m. Friday and end at 4 a.m. Monday.

Westbound Full Closures
The first two weekend closures are on westbound SR-37 and start at 9 p.m. Friday, April 19 and 26, and conclude at 4 a.m. Monday, April 22 and 29.
The detour around the westbound closure starts at the connector off-ramp from state Highway 29 in Vallejo and ends at state Highway 121 in Sonoma.
Motorists traveling westbound will need to exit right onto northbound SR-29 βSonoma Boulevard βin Vallejo and continue on northbound SR-29 β Broadway β in American Canyon to SR-29/SR-12; then turn left and continue on SR-12/SR-121 β Carneros Highway/Fremont Drive β then turn left on SR-121 βArnold Driveβ and make a right back onto westbound SR-37.
Eastbound Full Closures
Eastbound closures are scheduled from 10 p.m. Friday, May 3 and 10 to 5 a.m. Monday, May 6 13. The eastbound detour is from northbound SR-121 βSears Pointβ in Sonoma County to SR-12/29 in Vallejo.
The closures start at 10 p.m. Friday, April 29 and May 3 and conclude at 5 a.m. Monday, April 29 and May 6.
Motorists traveling eastbound will need to exit left onto northbound SR-121 in Sonoma; make a right on SR-12/SR-121 βCarneros Highway β and continue; make a right on SR-12/SR-29; and then enter left for the connector loop off-ramp back to eastbound SR-37.
Caltrans reiterated that all work is weather-dependent. The weekend of May 17 may be scheduled as a contingency if work is further delayed or postponed.
