AMERICAN CANYON, CA — A stolen car was recovered early Tuesday in American Canyon and two people were arrested in connection with the theft after officers found the pair hiding in the front yard of a home, police said.
Officers were alerted around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday about a stolen red Honda Civic that was traveling in the area of American Canyon Road and Interstate 80. Officers patrolled the neighborhoods near American Canyon Road for the car and shortly before 3 a.m., they found it parked in the Via Bellagio neighborhood on Via Pescara.
An officer was passing by and saw the driver’s door open with someone in the driver’s seat. When the officer turned around to make contact with the person, they were not there. The officer saw only a dog abandoned in the car.
