• California wineries are experimenting with a new type of tasting — and it doesn't involve wine (sfchronicle.com) — Napa Valley wineries like Bella Oaks, Bouchaine, and Castello di Amorosa are rolling out sophisticated nonalcoholic tastings, from sparkling tea flights to grape-juice-based mocktails, to welcome Dry January visitors and year-round non-drinkers. These experiences aim to keep Napa tasting rooms full, give designated drivers and abstainers a comparable experience, and potentially convert tea and mocktail fans into future wine buyers.
   

• Roundup: Windsor girls stay perfect in basketball (pressdemocrat.com) — Napa High’s boys basketball team notched a solid 66-47 win over Concord, using a dominant fourth quarter to secure its third victory of the season. The Grizzlies have one more preseason matchup at Skyline before launching into Vine Valley Athletic League play next week, while Windsor’s girls stayed undefeated by winning the Vern Piver Classic.
