Full Containment Of Napa, Sonoma Fires Delayed

BREAKING: Cal Fire earlier this week estimated full containment would be Friday, Oct. 27.

SONOMA and NAPA COUNTIES, CA — Cal Fire has delayed until Tuesday the estimate for full containment of the Tubbs, Pocket and Nuns fires that have burned nearly 111,000 acres in Sonoma and Napa counties since Oct. 8. Cal Fire earlier this week estimated full containment would be Friday, Oct. 27. The fires are currently 94 percent contained.

Cal Fire said crews continue to mop up and patrol the fire areas in the two counties where 6,957 structures were destroyed and 486 were damaged. Twenty-three people died in the Sonoma County fires and seven died
in Napa County.

The Tubbs Fire destroyed the most homes in Santa Rosa's Coffey Park and Fountaingrove areas. Residents were allowed back into those neighborhoods last weekend to survey the damage.

The Sonoma County Sheriff's Office approved limited, restricted re-entry to the remaining burned unincorporated county areas of Mark West Springs Road to residents and property owners until 5:30 p.m. today.

The area includes all burned out areas and tributaries of Mark West Springs Road/Porter Creek Road to Calistoga Road.

Residents who encounter a roadblock must have their identity verified and present the informational packet they receive from the Kaiser medical buildings at 3925 Old Redwood Hwy. or the Knights Valley Fire
Department on Spencer Lane in Calistoga.

The Knights Valley Fire Department will be open today from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
