Gun Found Hidden In Napa Probationer's Car Vent, Police Say

A warrant had been issued for the man's arrest after he did not show up to serve a Napa County jail sentence.

NAPA VALLEY, CA — A man with a warrant for his arrest out of Napa County was taken into custody Monday by American Canyon police.

An officer made a traffic enforcement stop at 1:15 p.m. Monday on a silver Prius near Fairgrounds Boulevard and Gateway in Vallejo, just south of American Canyon.

The driver, Wayman Barrow, 25, of San Ramon, was on probation out of Napa County, and officers learned a warrant was issued for his arrest after he failed to remand to jail to serve his sentence on a prior case.

Police allege a loaded Glock 26 firearm was found hidden inside Barrow’s driver-side vent near the steering wheel, along with an extended loaded 30-round 9mm magazine.

Barrow was also suspected of being under the influence of marijuana while driving.

Barrow was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm, as well as for his warrant and a probation violation.

He was booked into the Napa County Department of Corrections and is awaiting court, police said.
