ICE Sweeps Through Northern California After Warning
At least 11 people were detained by immigration officers. The sweep comes after a NorCal mayor issued a warning.

NAPA, CA -- A Napa man who was detained by immigration officers was just one out of 11 people reportedly in custody following a weekend sweep in Northern California. The sweep was conducted hours after the Oakland mayor warned residents in the region that it could happen.
Rapid Response Network in North Bay confirmed that one person was detained in Napa with loved ones recording the incident and sharing it on social media. KQED said at least 10 other people in the region were detained.
KRON reported Armando Ponce was detained while doing yard work.

"Then they just handcuffed me and put me in the car," Ponce reportedly told his wife.
The raid for immigrants living in the U.S. illegally came after Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf posted a rare warning on Facebook on Saturday.

"As Mayor of Oakland, I am sharing this information publicly not to panic our residents but to protect them, Schaaf said. "My priority is for the well-being and safety of all residents β particularly our most vulnerable β and I know that Oakland is safer when we share information, encourage community awareness, and care for our neighbors."
Schaaf went on to say she was unaware of the "precise locations" of the raids, but was told it would happen.
"I believe it is my duty and moral obligation as Mayor to give those families fair warning when that threat appears imminent," Schaaf said.
San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo addressed the raids in a statement posted on Twitter.
"The San Jose Police Department does NOT participate in ICE operations," Liccardo said. "The SJPD will remain focused on protecting our residents and responding to predatory crime in our community."
The raids come as the Trump Administration promised supporters it would crack down on immigrants living in the country illegally.
