Illegal Gun Seized In Stop Related To Walmart Theft
American Canyon police arrested a Vallejo man in connection with the illegal gun.

AMERICAN CANYON, CA — One person was arrested and two people were cited in a traffic stop related to a theft from the Walmart in American Canyon.
Around 8:30 p.m. Monday, American Canyon police officers were notified of a petty theft at Walmart that involved a black 2017 Chevy Impala.
Officers stopped the car near the 200 block of American Canyon Road. During a search of the car for the stolen merchandise, officers found a loaded 40-mm Glock 23 handgun with an extended 22-round magazine and the serial numbers scratched off, police said.

One of the people in the car, 24-year-old Eric Griffin of Vallejo, told officers the gun was his, according to police.
Griffin was arrested on suspicion of three felony charges related to possession of the gun and was booked into Napa County jail. He was released from custody Tuesday morning on $50,000 bail, records showed.

The other two people in the car were cited in connection with the theft from Walmart and released to appear in court, police said.
