Napa Co. Seeks Nominees To Honor Neighbors Taxed By Recent Crises
Napa Valley welcomes, seeks nominations for inaugural "Neighbors Helping Neighbors" program on heels of recent years filled with disasters.

NAPA COUNTY, CA – The disasters that rock our world have tested the will, stamina and altruistic nature of residents in Napa County, a local government that wants to turn those events into something positive. County officials are accepting nominations for stories to launch the first "Neighbors Helping Neighbors" program designed to honor good deeds, acts of heroism and kind gestures.
Nominations are due Sept. 21.
Few regions have been tested quite like Napa County in the last five years.

In 2014, citizens emerged from the rubble one afternoon from a 6.0 earthquake that knocked buildings from their foundations, poured thousands of dollars of the world's finest wine onto the ground and created lose-your-oil pan cracks in the street.
The following year the Valley Fire that demolished much of Lake County spilled into the county. Last year marked a series of wildfires led by the Tubbs Fire deemed one of the worst in California's history in Napa's backyard.

This year, the Steele Fire reared its ugly head, reminding residents they're not out of the woods on neighborhood disasters.
"We believe that in Napa this happens every day, and we want to recognize the kind and caring acts of neighbors," County Executive Officer Minh Tran said.
A panel consisting of local media and community members will review the submissions, which may be sent to ceo@countyofnapa.org.
Then, the Board of Supervisors will commemorate the first anniversary of the 2017 wildfires on Oct. 9 by recognizing the efforts of neighbors helping neighbors.
