Napa County District Attorney's Office Joins Local Agencies To Host 'Walk A Mile In Her Shoes'

Wear red pumps, participants will experience walking a mile in the shoes of women who've experienced domestic violence or sexual assault.

NAPA COUNTY, CA β€” The Napa County District Attorney’s Office in partnership with several local agencies are coming together to host a special β€œWalk a Mile in Her Shoes” event on Saturday, April 29 at Veteran’s Memorial Park (800 Main Street) in downtown Napa from 10 a.m. to noon. The community is encouraged to walk the mile route to help raise awareness about gender biases and identity and sexual violence.

The walk provides members of the community the opportunity to experience walking a mile in the shoes of women who have experienced domestic violence or sexual assault. Participants will be given red pumps to wear for the walk. Within the journey, walkers will get to meet the individuals behind the different agencies that offer helpful resources for women of abuse.

An individual donation of $10 to participate or $50 or more for a team is suggested. Proceeds will be used to cover the event and any remaining funds will be donated to NEWS (Nurturing Empowerment Worth Safety) Napa.

Teams are encouraged to wear matching clothing (uniform or T-shirt) to show their support of women. Participants can also carry signs during the walk to help raise awareness.

Prizes will be awarded for the following team categories: largest team, best T-shirt and the most team spirit.
