Napa Man Accused Of Attacking Man At Restaurant, Held On $500K Bail

The victim was eating when he was suddenly attacked and punched several times by another man, American Canyon police said.

NAPA COUNTY, CA — A man suffered serious wounds to his head when he was attacked Sunday night in a restaurant in American Canyon, police said.

Officers responded just after 1o p.m. Sunday to a report of a fight in a restaurant near 5075 Main St. and learned the victim was eating when he was suddenly attacked and punched several times by another man, police said Wednesday in a news release.

The attacker fled the scene and the victim was treated for major head injuries at Queen of the Valley Medical Center and at UC Davis Medical Center.

As leads in the case were investigated, police determined the victim was targeted and it was not a random attack.

On Tuesday, the Napa County Sheriff’s Investigations Division secured a warrant for the arrest of 19-year-old Joaquin Cervantes in connection with the incident.

Napa sheriff's detectives and the Napa Special Investigations Bureau served the warrant Tuesday afternoon at a Napa residence where Cervantes lives.

Cervantes was arrested without incident and booked into the Napa County Department of Corrections on suspicion of felony charges related to the assault. He was being held on $500,000 bail Wednesday awaiting a court appearance.
