Napa's Unemployment Rate Drops Again

The county's jobless rate is at its lowest point in at least two years.

Napa County's unemployment rate dropped further during the month of March, according to data released Friday by the state Employment Development Department.

The county's unemployment rate fell to 6.7 percent last month, down from 7 percent in February. It's just the third time since April 2011 that Napa's jobless rate was below 7 percent.

In Napa County, all towns reported an improvement in the jobless rate from February to March. The city of Napa saw a slight decline in unemployment, reported at 7.0 percent in March. The unemployment rate was 7.3 percent in February.

Yountville had the lowest unemployment rate at 4.9 percent. The worst was American Canyon, at 10.8 percent.

Napa County's unemployment rate also was better than those for California or the nation, which were 9.4 percent and 7.6 percent, respectively.

The unemployment rate is derived from a federal survey of 5,500 California households.
