Police Search For St. Helena Armed Robbery Suspect

St. Helena residents were asked to shelter in place as police searched for the suspect.

ST. HELENA, CA β€” Police in St. Helena were looking for a man who robbed a local market at gunpoint. The robbery at the Azteca Market, 789 Main St., was reported about 5:15 p.m. Sunday, said police Sgt. Justin Tharp.

The gunman, described as a thin white man about 5-feet-8-inches tall, had a handgun but did not fire it. He got away with an undisclosed amount of cash, Tharp said.

The suspect ran toward a residential neighborhood to the west; police requested residents on Main Street, Charter Oak Avenue, Grayson Avenue and Crane Avenue to shelter in their homes while police did a yard-to-yard search, Tharp said.
