A Napa resident sees a suspicious man break into his car on Wimbledon St. Shots are fired. A silver Porsche SUV flees, and the chase is on.

NAPA - A man confronted Monday by the gun-toting Napa owner of a truck he'd just broken into led police on a wild chase that ended when a squad car deliberately crashed into the Porsche SUV the suspect was driving, according to authorities.

Police arrested 29-year-old Sean Ryan Veitch and a female companion in the silver Porsche Cayenne SUV after the chase around noon on numerous charges, including assault with a deadly weapon.

According to a Napa police report, a resident in the 2500 block of Wimbledon St. saw a silver Porsche SUV driving slowly through his neighborhood.

Acording to the report, the resident watched as a male subject, later identified as Veitch, get out of the SUV and walk towards his truck. Police say Veitch then used some type of tool to break into the resident’s truck.

At this point, police say the resident, armed with a handgun, confronted Veitch and ordered the burglar from his truck at gunpoint.

As Veitch and the resident stood in the middle of the street, the SUV, driven by 33-year-old Rachael Leilani Salvador of Novato, drove directly at the resident, according to authorities.

Police say the man, fearful of being struck, jumped out of the path of the silver SUV.

As the Porsche flew by, police say the resident fired multiple shots at the vehicle. They say the Porsche stopped toward the end of Wimbledon, Veitch got back into the vehicle, and it fled.

Responding to reports of shots fired in the area, officers from Napa Police Department arrived at the scene and were able to obtain a description of the suspect vehicle from the resident.

An all-points bulletin for a Silver Porsche SUV was immediately issued.

Police say an American Canyon Police officer was positioned on State Road 29 at Green Island Road, anticipating the Porsche driving south from the scene.

At about 11:54 a.m., police say the SUV sped past the office, and was seen passing people on the right shoulder of the road.

The officer tried to stop the Silver Porsche, but it continued south on SR29. On SR29 near SR37, police say the Porsche hit two other cars as it raced through the intersection.

Police say the SUV was finally stopped when an officer rammed the vehicle, forcing it to a stop.

Two women inside a car hit by Veitch during the chase were taken to an area hospital where they were treated and released, according to authorities.

Veitch and Salvador were booked into the Napa County Department of Corrections.

Sean Ryan Veitch, a San Francisco resident, was charged with Assault with deadly weapon; Vehicle burglary; Evading police with injury; and bringing a controlled substance into jail.

During the booking process, police say Veitch was found to be in possession of 15 grams of suspected methamphetamine.

Authorities say he also had a warrant for his arrest out of Marin County.
