Propane-Inhaling Probate Arrested for Ammo Possession in Napa
The 51-year-old man was taken into custody by Napa PD in the 200 block of Winding Way.

NAPA, CA -- A Napa resident was recently arrested for breaking his probation by being in possession of ammunition, police say.
On November 6, 2018, Napa Police Officers and the Napa Fire Department responded to an apartment in the 200 block of Winding Way regarding an individual inhaling propane. When officers arrived they learned the resident, John Lafeber, was dispelling propane indoors and they could smell the gas.
Lafeber did not initially come to the door at the officerβs direction, and police say firefighters determined there was a significant safety risk due to the propane concentration in the area. Because of that, the electricity to the apartment was cut and neighbors were evacuated from their apartments as a safety precaution.

Officers were eventually able to communicate with Lafeber to check his welfare and instruct him to exit the apartment. After he exited the apartment, police and fire personnel checked the residence and neighboring apartments for overall safety. Neighbors were allowed back into their residences around 1:15 p.m. after it was determined safe.
Lafeber was found to be on Napa County Probation. Officers located ammunition which he is prohibited from possessing. His actions were in violation of his probation, and he was placed under arrest. He was booked into the Napa County Detention Center after being medically cleared at a local area hospital.
